Tips for Healthy Nails in the Winter

Nail Polish: Some people say you should avoid wearing nail polish in the Winter, as it can cause your nails to yellow if worn excessively. Others suggest that it protects the nails from becoming dehydrated, as it locks moisture in. One thing that is agreed on though, is that using nail polish remover should done sparingly in the winter. This is because nail polish remover contains acetone, which dries nails out.
If you do decide to wear nail polish, use either a clear one so that chips are not as noticeable, or invest in a long lasting formula so that you don’t have to use nail polish remover as often. If you think you have a nail infection, avoid using nail polish as it can make it harder for your infection to heal, and it can spread the infection if it gets into the nail polish.
Vitamin Supplements: If there was ever a time to take advantage of supplements, the Winter is it. Since it’s harder to get fresh fruits and vitamins that contain essential vitamins and minerals, it is a good idea to take supplements to ensure that you are getting your daily dose.
